Have markers on Blu-ray without a button?
Posted by Paul Gregory on February 27, 2014 at 6:19 amI seem to recall that when when one made a DVD with scene selection menu’s it was possible to have more markers than there were buttons on the scene selection menu. This meant that you could jump to parts of the video that weren’t represented my a button.
Can this be done with Blu-rays & if so how is it done? I have tried putting extra markets in Vegas before rendering & then deleting the buttons I didn’t want to see but that appears not to work.
Thanks in advance

February 27, 2014 at 1:47 pmQuite a long time ago, Sony did a webinar on the use of Architect. Does anyone know where that might be found. It explained so much!

February 27, 2014 at 3:52 pmYou can have all the markers you want. I don’t know your workflow or how every marker is becoming a button, but if you delete a button, the marker stays on the DVDA timeline. Just put the markers on the Vegas timeline where you want them and be sure you select Save Project Markers in Generated Media in the Render As menu.

February 27, 2014 at 11:01 pmI create markers in Vegas & get them saved with render. When file opened in DVDA all markets appear on timeline. I ask for a scene selection menu. A button & text button is created for each marker. I do a preview & confirm that thar markers are working correctly.
Back in scene selection menu I delete a few buttons & do another preview. This time playback only jumps to next button icon location thus skiping where intermediate marker was located.
Thanks in advance

February 28, 2014 at 2:58 amI’m not following your workflow, but to be honest, I use Photoshop to make all my DVD menus and buttons.

February 28, 2014 at 3:26 amThere is almost always another approach to achieve what you want with Vegas & DVDA. Rather than waste everyone’s time I am going to try the following which should achieve what I was after.
For the buttons that are unwanted I just chance them to text only with smallest fort & then change the text color to that of the background & they should no longer be seen on the scene selection menu yet still be there when you preview or remote control.
Thanks for all the help.
Thanks in advance

March 5, 2014 at 7:30 pmThanks Mike. Sorry for the long overdue reply. This was what I was looking for. Just got a new Blu-ray burner so thought I’d brush up on making menus etc. in Architect.
