I decided to upgrade my Final Cut Studio 2 to Final Cut Studio 3 yesteday. Against better jugement I decided to just upgrade my system and everything seemed to work well. I then tried to capture some hdv fotage but it the log and capture crashed on me twice before capturing any fotage at all. Cutting corners still looks like a very bad idea. At the moment I am installing it on a freshly formatted and newly installed harddisk hope the plugin that crashed did so because of the upgrade and not because something broke in the way Final Cut captures HDV files. I will update you when I know if a freshly installed system and upgrade solves my problem;-)

If you are doing a fresh install seems like I’d wait for snow leopard.

I would have if I had the time but I would like to have this personal project finished for a chrismas gift I thus gathered that the 2-5 weeks extra time I get by starting now will help me more than any kind of speed increase I might get from 10.6. Did the upgrade because some of the improvements in the new studio really would speed up the way I work. Apperently according to Walter Biscardi the general speed will increase as well. I am really looking forward to that. 10.6 will installed on one of the other disks on my machine as soon as I get it.
