    Hey, everyone.
What is the situation with hardware upgrades for Meridien systems? If possible I would like to replace my current EDC display card with a more recent model that supports, if possible, a 1.6:1 aspect ratio like 1024×640. The manufacturer who built the card I have in my Symphony, Number Nine Technology, no longer exists and so I’m curious who, if anyone, picked up the slack building display cards for Avid’s Meridien systems.
Alternatively, am I simply doomed to the limitations of five-year-old technology from a time when nobody cared about widescreen computer monitors?
Thanks for any advice or input.

no – you cannot replace or “upgrade” this card. This is a video overlay card, which is critical to the Media Composer application.

I have recently discovered that doing something even simplier – removing the ATTO SCSI card and replacing it with a modern SATA card – will prevent the Media Composer application from launching. So no, you can’t replace the Number Nine EDC card.

The EDC board is probably too old too support 1920 x 1080. I think you need at least 128 MB of video memory to do it.

You can go higher 1024×768. I have gone as high as 1280×1024 but you may get the Frame Advance error warning.
    1152×876 works though.
