  • Hardware Underrun Error during Digital Cut

    Hi,

I’m running an Adrenaline 2.2.1 on the HP xw8200 workstation. My media is on Unity, and i’m using a Sony DNW-a75 Beta Sx deck connected through SDI. When i do a digital cut of a sequence longer than 3 minutes, i get a hardware underrun error. All my effects are completely rendered, and i’m trying to figure out what’s causing this. the only soulution right now is to do a crash record, but that’s not ideal.

I read on Avid’s knowledge base that errors occured with this deck when autoconfiguring on a symphony or MC11, but my deck configurations dont seem to fit the profile of that error.

If anyone has encountered this problem and knows what path may lead me to victory, i’d love to hear from you. thanks.

Its difficult tracking down these kind of problems. Rendering is always the first step, so you’ve done that. You might try splitting up your digital cut – do the video first and then the audio in a 2nd pass. Hardware under runs are often caused by the audio & video not playing back together. hope this helps. Phil B

Phil–thanks for the input. after searching avid’s forum, i seemed to have found a solution. for anyone out there who’s interested…in the video display settings the “Pre-Filled Frames” is defaulted to Zero Seconds. If I change this to ONE second, the underrun error does not occur.
