I’m trying to put together a new editing computer from Dell. I’m working on a half hour program that currently is basically a person talking on camera. I capture SD footage via Firewire and export out to DVD from Encore or back to MiniDV.

I think the specs I’ve laid out below can handle my current work load, I want to have a computer that can handle a possible upgrade to shooting on a HVX-200.

    Dell XPS730x
    – Windows Vista® 64-bit Home Premium Service Pack 1
    – Intel® Core™ i7-965 Extreme – Level 2 (Factory O/C’d to 3.73GHz)
    – 12GB Tri-Channel DDR3 at 1066MHZ (3x2GB DIMM
    – nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB
    – 1TB Performance RAID 0 (2 x 500GB SATA-II, 7200 RPM HDDs)
    – 300GB Western Digital Velociraptor – SATA-II, 3GB/S, 10000RPM, 16MB Cache
