    Hi All,

We’ve got a Dell GX620 and the Adobe Video Collection, the higher ups want to do 2 video projects in ’06 to go to DVD. What hardware editing cards would you recommend for this setup?

I see the RT.X100 Xtreme Pro from matrox, but it looks like a pain to configure and the Avid Liquid – which totally negates Premiere/Encore.

I’d like something that is as “real time” as possible editwise and exporting too – meaning I don’t just want to put in a firewire card and do it that way.

Any input and/or potential “gotchas” are greatly appricated!

What processor are you running in the GX620?

Sorry I should have put that. its a P4 3.2GHz (hyperthreading if that matters). Will have a total of 3gigs of Ram.

    thanks!

If your computer is compatible with the Matrox RTX cards, they are the way to go in my opinion. Most computers are fine with the RTX’s, but I’d check the Matrox site to see if your computer is approved, or at least motherboards with the same chipset. If your graphic card is integrated on the motherboard, and the chipset is not on the approved list, I would be a bit more leery.

Setup is simple and straightforward; much better than the old RT-2000 days.

The real time MPEG2 encoding is worth the price of admission, but the RT effects and the analog I/O are great too.

The reason I asked about the processor is that if it was a Pentium D, You maybe could get enough speed out for most RT, Like Paul mentioned the RTX will give you alot of help, but be aware that its not without some problems, it would be a good idea to peruse the Adobe Ppro and Matrox factory forums to get an idea of what headaches people are having.
