  hardware recommendations, anyone?

  Hello,
  Learning curve continues apace (gotta love that duck tutorial). Anyway, my current computer is old and sucks. Gotta get a new one, and a major use will be for c4d. I can only hope that it will lead to a NET. So…

  1. $750
  2. motherboard – anything to stay away from?
  3. chip – intel vs. amd
  4. memory – 1Gb?
  5. video card? (I hear nvidia 7800 is pretty good).
  6. w2k for now.
  7. video out? need dv (mini-dv, dv25, sdtv).

  Probably put it together myself (with help from the local computer stores/compusa).

  And for the futures – what’s good for the client/server NET thing?

  c4d is cool. Perfect, no. I get the feeling I’ll never actually understand all of the parameters – there’s like, what, 10,000 of them? I can barely remember my phone number.
