Hardware Question for NAB Folks!
Heres a question I forgot to ask yesterday at NAB. Can I run FCS 2
on my G5 (2 X 3.0 ghz , ATI Radeon 9600 XT, Tiger 10.4.5)?
This is my “learning machine” until we replace our Avid DS Nitris at work. What limitations will I experience….especiallly with Motion 2
and Color (will they function at all, since this display card is not mentioned in the required hardware specs)? That is all

You should be fine except for Color, which requires more horsepower and a larger screen so, keep that in mind. I can tell you that Motion will be lackluster on that system but, it will ‘work’.

The most important thing for Color is your video card. It is entirely GPU based, so the better the card, the quicker the renders and performance.
Could be a good thing, could be bad if you invest in a high-powered CPU system. Who knows yet, since it’s still in it’s Beta phase.

I believe you can still buy some of the higher-end ATI cards in AGP, in case you have an older G5 like I do.
