hardware mpeg2 exxport
well I did it, insstalled tiger and QT 7 and bl–dy forgot that I’d lose qt mpeg2 export, compressssor is a dead loss, I’m ssick of struggling with issues. Can anyone point me to a hardware solution which isn’t the price of a smalll car? La Cie do one but it’s NTSC only.

Hardware compressors are usually extremely expensive for good quality, and it might require putting in a whole other pc to do so. Look into sorenson squeeze for another software compression option, or perhaps bitvice.
For the record, compressor has worked great for me. If there was something wrong, it’s because I messed up a setting somewhere.

Wired Inc used to do a hardware MPEG 2 board. The quality was unreal, and it was realtime.
I havent looked at them for a few years, but notice that the site is still up.
Might be worth a look.

FWIW, I have one of their older, entry level MediaPress cards. The quality is very good, & it gives me real time encoding of DV on an older G4. BTW, my G5 is faster than real time for CBR!

I’m running Tiger 10.4.2 and QT 7.0.3 and not having Compressor issues, so the question is what are exactly your “issues” with compressor?

‘Cannot connect to background process’, I keep fixing this and up it pops again, DREADFULLY sllow, takes way much longer than compressor 1 or QT or DVDSP or Cleaner to encodde, often encodes the audio out of synch and i have to go back to FCP to export the audio seperately and patch it. It’s been TOO much trouble.
