Apple has always been a hardware company (which is a big reason why the clones almost killed them). They provide Bootcamp so you can run Windows on your Mac. They provide iTunes for Windows so Windows users can have desktop/laptop support for their iDevices. Try to sell non-Apple computers that run OS X though and you will get sued into oblivion.

Personally the OS is far less important than the software I am using. So for me the priorities are software, hardware and then OS.

Once Resolve is open the OS has almost no significance. By choosing Win10 I can build powerful cheap up to date hardware which makes one hell of a difference to the performance of my chosen software. The OS is just the minor interface to that unless it crashes or makes it difficult to access hard drives. I have to say that WIN 10 with MacDrive and hardware choices with plenty of USB ports makes my job a lot easier.

I see no particular advantage to me to have MacOS. Ease of ProRes is one legit reason but not nearly as important as cost saving when upgrading hardware and GPUs
