Hardware: Facilis VS ProxSys; DAMs CatDV VS Content Agent VS DivaDirector
Apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum but I’m not really certain where this should go…
First off, we’re looking at a shared-storage solution. We’ll have about five FCP seats (FCS2) and two Avids (latest version of Media Composer) that need to draw on shared-assets.
While I’ve explored the X-San a bit, we don’t really have the tech resources to support it in-house.
From what I can gather, that leaves us with two somewhat “off-the-shelf” solutions:
–A Facilis
–Something like Focus Enhancements ProxSys (https://www.focusinfo.com/solutions/digital_asset_management.asp)Does anyone know how these compare to one another? Are there other possibilities (outside of an Avid Unity) I’m missing?
Similarly, we’re looking at DAMs to run on that backbone. So far, the following have been demo’ed for us:
–Root 6 Content Agent (here’s a great review: https://michaelkammes.com/column/?p=34)
–CAT DV (https://www.squarebox.co.uk/)
–Front Porch Digital Group’s suite (https://www.fpdigital.com/Products/Default.aspx)We have transcoding and multiple-platform publishing needs, or else FCP Server would probably be a good fit (excepting the Avid boxes).
Any experience with these different DAMs?
Obviously, it’s all a bit overwhelming to me and apologies if I’m not asking the right questions and/or even comparing apples to apples.
I’m all ears to different experiences, considerations, feedback, and will provide as much further clarification as I possibly can.
Thanks community,
schreck
