    Hi,

The studio I might go to work for uses old JVC workstations to edit in Digital-S. I was wandering if I could incorporate my Mac in the system, so I can continue working with Avid. I have Avid Xpress pro and run it on an Imac with a 2.8 GHz intel core 2 Duo and 2 GB 667MHZ DDR2 SDRAM. What kind of hardware would I need to be able to use a Digital-S player to capture and export to tape, as well as monitor my Timeline on a broadcast monitor.

    Thanks in advance,

    Marc

Get an SDI Mojo. And while you’re at it, upgrade XPress to Media Composer.

Thank you for your quick response. If I would upgrade to MC and get me an SDI Mojo, could I later upgrade to HD?

Mojo will down-convert HD timelines to SD, but it does not have an HD-SDI output. You would need to upgrade to an Adrenaline with a DNxcel card to output HD-SDI.
