Hardware and setting for importing VHS into FCP
Hi all,
I need to import a 100 or so hour long VHS tapes into the digital realm. The final output will mostly be used for web based delivery, but they might want to occasionally give out some of them as DVDs. The equipment I currently have is a MacPro, a few external drives, and Final Cut Studio 3.
So the question is — what hardware would you all recommend for this job (video card, VHS deck, etc.) and what import settings would give me the best results. I need to keep the budget for this as low as possible while still maintaing good results.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Canopus ADVC 300…Composite in from the deck…firewire out to your computer. Capture as DV/NTSC. You won’t have “deck control,” so you manually press play and press CAPTURE NOW.
