  • Hard reset io HD?

Posted by Navarro Parker on May 28, 2008 at 1:17 am

Is there a way to do a hard reset of the io HD box? We have a unit that seems to completely locked up. System profiler doesn’t see it on the Firewire bus. And while the LED panel on the box shows “Aja”, the power light doesn’t come on.

You mean besides throwing the power switch?

The next best thing would be to blast the firmware, either re-write it, or upgrade it.

are there any other FW devices attached to your computer- if so – the IoHD will not work correctly!!!

Yes, the Aja is the only FW800 item on the bus.

Have you tried swapping your fw800 cable or at least reseating it? If not, a firmware blast in in order.

Yup, tried different FW800 cables. And I can’t blast the firmware, because the io isn’t seen on the Firewire bus. The Aja control panel and firmware updater say no devices can be found.

Your firewire port does work, correct?

There’s a little paper clip hole by the HDMI ports. Turn off the box, stick a paper clip in and restart the box. Should boot up into safe boot. Then run the ioHD updater and reinstall the firmware.

If that doesn’t work, email AJA support.

Do you have another machine to connect the AJA to? Your system may be the culprit.

YAY! That did the trick, Jeremy! Thank you. After resetting it in Safe Mode, the Firmware updater automatically launched at reboot and asked if I wanted to install the Firmware. All the Firmware in the IO was completely blanked out! Both the Power and Firewire link lights lit up too.

Yeesh, I wonder what happened to completely kill.

Did you throw water on Gizmo and feed his spawn after midnight?
