    So, unless you are viewing this forum in the “most recent reply” mode, some of you may miss this early Sunday morning nugget from Jan at Panasonic. It is in an older thread. To me this reveals these two important facts:

    1) The FireWire port and DVPRO HD FireWire protocol in the HVX ARE capable of recording to an “intelligent hard drive like the Fire Store.

    2) There isn’t one yet, but it is being actively worked on with the blessings of Panasonic.

    That seems like pretty big news, no? I haven’t seen anything like this before. See below…

    Yep, so it’s no no for live recording to off the shelf fw/usb-hdd.
    So much for sbp2 while recording…
    Although that would have needed a bit more intelligence inside the camera; it can record in file format to p2 but not to external hdd.
    Now we need this intelligence at the other end of fw-cable, just like before.
