How do i log and capture footage using a camcorder hard drive, not dv tape, on to final cut pro 7?
i have final cut pro 7.
i have a camera which records HD footage on to the cameras’ 260gb hard drive.
how do i log and capture my material on to final cut pro,
i used to log my footage via DV tape, using a firewire.
however, i now have a new camera, which records onto the cams’ hard-drive.

Log and Transfer is what you want and not Log and Capture. But only curtain cameras and formats are supported. If yours is not you will need to just copy the video files over to your HD and then convert them with compressor or Streamclip to a edit friendly codec, such as ProRes.

Non-tape-based cameras do not have a Log & Capture functionality. You would need to use a capture card of some sort to capture into the computer over component or HDMI. There are a lot of good options out there.
