Hopefully I can explain this with some clarity.

I have an eps file of a squiggly line that becomes some handwritten text that I want to appear on the screen and look like it was written by hand. I used the pen tool and stroke technique, and am continuously rastorizing which seems to work as far as getting the line to appear left to right. My issue is that I would like to add a camera to this and have the camera zoom in/out and fly around the area as it’s being revealed and “written”. Once the layer becomes 3D and the camera is added, the stroke width doesn’t change relative with the camera placement and has a maximum value of 50, which, of course, isn’t near large enough to reveal the graphic if I’m in real close.

Can I do this in AE? Is there a different technique that I should use?

    Thanks in advance.

You can always use Zaxwerks 3d Serpentine:

One option would be to pre-compose the write-on animation at a large enough size that it would still look clear when zoomed in Then make that pre-composed layer 3D and and animate it to simulate a camera move.

Ya, that’s pretty much what I ended up doing. Thanks, Erik.
