Handbrake created file no audio or video stream
I have a MKV file and need to do some video cleanup of the track in Premiere Pro CC 2014. Since Premiere can’t open MKV files, ran it thru Handbrake with the following settings:
- H.264
- 25 FPS
- Preset Ultra Fast
- Constant Quality 0 – Placebo Quality
- Audio brought over MP3 track
- Subtitles brought over subtitle track
The resulting MP4 file gives me “The file has no audio or video streams” importing into Premiere.
Thoughts?

I’ll answer my own question so others who may run into this know. I was using Premiere Pro CC 2014 version 8.0.1. Was having issues either with MP4’s or specifically MP4’s that were created in Handbrake. Whatever the cause, I updated to 8.2.0 (65) version and it was again able to open MP4 files.

Wow, 2014 version is messed up. SO the latest update was able to load the MP4 files, but the exported uncompressed AVI file had an error of some kind in it. Not sure what, but multiple tools would crap out trying to convert it about a fourth of the way thru. Guess back to like 7.2.1 or something if I can get there.

I don’t think the problem with this particular workflow is Premiere.
