Hallo everyone,I have Question a preset
I’m using cs4.2, Our Videographer shot a movie with this inforamtion from the camera:
LtcChangeTable halfStep=”false” tcFps=”25″
VideoLayout aspectRatio=”16:9″ numOfVerticalLine=”1080″ pixel=”1920
canera sony pmw-ex1ri’v opened a project according this info, and everything was fine as far as the workflow, and no rendering was needed, finish the job and sent it to encore.
when I burned a Bluray I used: mpeg2, ntsc, 1920/1080i, and since it’s for u.s.a I used 29.7fps rate.
the movie came out fine exept when the camera moves we see a strobe like jumping, the camera movement is not smooth.so I tried to trancode it with the same info from the prject only when I open an encore project ,with NTSC trancoding it doesn’t give the option of 25fps only 23.97, so I used that and it came out worse.
so is there a preset that I can use to burn this movie in ntsc and it wil come good?, smooth like the worlflow?I want to mention that when he shot another movie with the same preset only this he used 30fps, the movie came out perfect.
so is there a chance that he made a mistake? set up his camera to shoot NTSC but with 25fps, and that’s y we cannot watch it on our screen smoothly?

25p is PAL not NTSC.
You should edit this video in a 24p sequence and master and 24p video.

So I need to Convert all the footage to 24p? if so wich preset shalle I use in encoder?And then I can burn a ntsc 29.7fps bluray?

No, edit in a 23.98 sequence, leave the 25p alone and just drop it in.

THANK U AGAIN ,SI IF I ALREADY DID THE PROJECT CAN I COPY PAST THE TIMLINE? AND IF SO, JUST EXPORT IT TO ENCORE AND MAKE BLURAY THAT WILL PLAT SMOOTE IN U.S.A?

You can copy the existing proj. and paste it into a new sequence, yes.

AND I EXPORT A SMALL CLIP AS IF I’M TRANCODING BLURAY, I USED THE PRESET OF MPEG2 WITH 24P 1920/1080 AND I NOTICED A BLUR EVERYTIME THE CAMERA PANS? WHEN I BURN THE BLURAY THIS IS HOW WE WILL SEE IT,WITH UNSMOOTH MOVEMENT? OR MABYE I SHOULD USE THE H.264 PRESET? THANK U.

The .h264 will not help.
Use the mpeg preset.
You will likely have stuttering movement with 24p. Nature of the beast. You have to look at what you have and work with it. You have 25p and you want NTSC. The best option is 24p. Now I have put 720p/25 material in a 720p/60 sequence with out issues… I ahve also used 24p in a 60i sequence without issue.
There is probably not much more you can do here but accept.
You can make a copy of the 25p clip(s) and open them in Cinema Tools (comes with FCP) and do a convert to 24p before the edit, but I don’t think you’ll see a dif here.
