Hal Douglas, RIP
I was very sad to hear on NPR radio last night that Hal Douglas passed away about a week ago (apparently it was kept rather quiet).
He had a good run, he was 89.
Back in my “young producer” days (ages ago) I had four “voice gods” on my list that I always wanted to work with… Hal Riney, Don Lafontaine, Peter Thomas, and Hal Douglas. Sadly, I’ve only batted 500. I worked with Don a few times and Peter many many times… but I never got either Hal.
I will sure miss his golden pipes…

Always was crazy about Peter Thomas for his PBS science program narrations. For my generation he as much as anybody was “the voice of science”, and gave instant authenticity to anything he narrated.

By the way, I reviewed it once already, but folks “in the business” will find the recent movie: “In a World” quite entertaining. At Redbox now, can’t go wrong for under two bucks.
