Hair growing toward the inside of my object
I generally stay away from hair simulations as I can never get them to work how I’d like them to but sometimes I’ve got no choice. An example of hair not working for me in the most basic sense is the image I’m attaching.
As you can see, in some places the hair is growing as if I’d told it to only grow on the X or Y or Z direction, so that it’s growing toward the inside of my object instead of growing out from each side, as it indeed does in other parts of the same object.
All my normals ar pointing out, as you can see in the other image.
And the object is a simple cylinder from which I’ve extruded “branches”, so really it’s as simple as it gets.
At some point I thought it might be that any polygons that are twisted (ie that don’t point toward XYZ the same way the main cylinder does) screw with the hairs, but as you can see from the frontal view, the secondary branch that has working hair direction is also “twisted” away from the main cylinder.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but I’ve tried (I think) every single variable in the hair object itself and can’t seem to fix it.
