h.264 stream compatibility?
I have always exported my h.264’s for youtube/vimeo etc with the default stream compatibility setting as standard in the multiplexing tab. This has always resulted in choppy playback but when uploaded its fine which is what its for so I didn’t mind.
However recently I exported a video and it played smooth, took about 10 exports to find what setting gave me the smooth results and the only thing I changed that gave me smooth playback (before upload) was changing stream compatibility to iPod.
If anyone could shed any light on exactly what we are doing to the video by changing the stream compatibility I would really appreciate it and also for upload which setting would be best or if there isn’t much in it as they get some further treatment by youtube/vimeo once uploaded.

Hi Adam,
I believe what you changed was basically the encoding complexity, which puts less strain in the CPU / graphics.
