Hello Blackmagic people great to see this much lauded piece of hardware is now shipping.

I have a question related to power inlet…

I need to get a cable fashioned up to go from an Anton Bauer P-Tap to whatever the jack is for external powering the device.

Can you tell me the kind of jack and the polarity of the jack.

I am really excited about using this device. It will be a HUGE timesaver for me on some of the work I do. I thank you for this.

    Hi,

The connector on the unit is 2.1mmx5.5mm center positive.

H.264 Pro Recorder has an input range of +12V to +36V.

    Hope this helps.

    Kristian,

One more question about power matters. What is the power draw of the unit and more specifically do you know if the draw is different between when in standby and when it is actively encoding data?

Hi, when encoding, you’re looking at approximately 4.5W and when not, about a watt or so less.

That’s great. I was hoping it wouldn’t be more than 6 watts. That’s pretty impressive.
