At NAB I queried individuals at the Blackmagic booth with leading questions to get a decent answer out of them. One said, “The hardware is finished, the software just needs a bit of polishing.” So when do you think it will hit the street, I said. “In about a month.” Are you sure. “Yeah, I think that is reasonable to get the few things done that need to be cleaned up.”

He was in the hardware division and obviously was positioned to say such things. The piece of gear was at work on the floor. I saw it running and he pointed to it as evidence that he wasn’t blowing smoke.

I still have seen no evidence in the channel. I meant to phone today but work got in the way.
