H264 (mp4) format to Avc (mp4 ) format?
I created my friend a H264 (mp4) 4.31 MB, but when he got it back the format is AVC with a (mp4) 3.1 MB. How did they do that? So the H264 mp4 will not play on Windows but the AVC mp4 will ? New to this trying to learn more!!!!

True. I understand that. I was wondering when I hit command I the finder tells me the new one is in the AVC Coding format 848×480 3.1MB
BUT THE COMPRESSION I GAVE HIM WAS H264 format 848X480 4.1 MB

It’s how it looks at the metadata. That’s all for the most part.

What was the file extension on each encode? We sometimes deliver a file with .mp4 and copy the file and change the extension to .mov. One is great for Quicktime users and the other works on Windows and Android etc.
But it’s the same file….just a different extension.

Since Windows 7, WMP 12 (and up) will play H.264 .mov in addition to H.264 .mp4. WMP11 on XP would need Quicktime. Since H.264 .mp4 can play in both WMP12 and Quicktime, that’s what I’d use.
