i have a sequence rendered from PP in 1080p h.264 25fps (all frame rates matched correctly to my knowledge)

when i playback footage in VLC i get a faded black (not true black) i also get odd stuttering of frames (sound plays back fine)

tried the footage in god forbidden windows media player and it plays through but not extremely smooth and the black is fine.

i dont think this is a GPU problem as the pre render played back fine.
what could be going wrong and how do i fix this inconsistant black.

only thing to note is that i was forced to do a dynamic link with AE for some Tiffs rendered from NUKE that PP would not accept. another strange behaviour
