    Hi there,

    I have a 720P video that I have to encode in h264 with a bitrate of 12Mbps.

    Is this possible?

The max I can get either in Media Encoder or Final Cut (quality settings maxed out) is 5Mbps in MOV format at 10Mbps in MP4 format.

If this is not the limit, how can i get a bitrate of 12Mbps with the H264 codec for a 720P video

    Thanks

Sure custom presets, but what I’m talking about is bitrate.

And I can’t get those bitrates even with the settings maxed out…

Do you have Apple Compressor? I think you can go up to 30,000 Kbps.

    Hi Christopher,

Yes I do, but for some reason I noticed there is something very weird going on on my computer.

No matter if I use Adobe Media Encoder or Compressor, and I select these high bitrate settings, my computer ignores them and makes a file that is usually 3 to 5mbps…

I think I know your problem. In Compressor, you have to duplicate the setting first. Your copy will then appear under the CUSTOM tab. That’s the setting you can change and customize to your heart’s desire. Make sure that’s the setting you’re applying to your file. The other settings are not customizable in the same way they were in Compressor 3 (I don’t know about 4).

The way I did it, is start a custom setting from scratch.

It should work that way too right? Shouldn’t have to duplicate it…

I’ve just duplicated, changed the title and customized. But if you can create a custom setting from scratch, I’m sure that will work. I was guessing that your problem was dragging in one of Apple’s presets, and thinking you were changing the settings when nothing was saving. Hope it works for you!
