Just read about the JVC GY-HM700U and it sounds really attractive.

Removable lens, shoulder mount, SD 4:2:2 out, Anton Bauer battery mount, and more. But the kicker is it uses Class 6 SDHC cards and records directly to Quicktime .MOV using EXCAM EX codec. So no SxS cards or XDCAM Transfer needed. I can drag clips directly from the SD card into Final Cut.

Has anyone used one? How does it compare to the EX3?

    HM-700
only 1/3″ chips compared to 1/2″ for EX3
    No Interval/time lapse recording.
Only a few preset Under/Overcrank speeds (but on SDHC which is nice).
You can use SDHC on EX as well with MxR, MxM, Hoodman adaptor.
Reports also say poor low light performance compared to EX. That’s expected with 1/3″ CCD vs 1/2″ CMOS chips.

If you saw my post on CalibratedSoftware, with that plugin there’s no need for XDCAM Transfer for FCP. MP4 works in FCP.
