For our latest project the client want posters to fly off an alley wall and float up into the sky to join a bunch of other floating posters.

I figured I could just use page turn to achieve the effect but it’s not quite turning out. (no pun intended)

Does anyone have some solutions or thoughts that might get this one rollin? Thanks!

[Dave LaRonde] “Got Zaxwerks’ 3D Warp? That’ll help.”

If you have the time and patience to render UV passes from a 3D app where you can do the deformations, a valuable plug-in would be RE:Vision Effect’s RE:Map. I’ve played with the effect a bit and it is incredibly accurate (in 16bpc, even more so at 32bpc) at mapping any footage item in AE (even a pre-comp) to UV coordinates.

The UV Mapping in Post samples are particularly relevant to your question. Again, this would require rendering the UVs of a deformed/animated plane from a 3D application, but you could then apply any texture you wanted (video or not) to that plane.
