  • Guides disappear when aligning and automatic gap between guides

Hi – this is driving me crazy. I’m at a job using CS3.

I’m designing signs where the measurements need to be exact and I need the guides to work right.

I lay out my guides but then when I align them to the shape of the sign, they completely disappear. Ive tried with smart guides on and off and looked in the preferences but can’t figure out what it could be.

The other problem is that when i make the guides, there is a tiny gap between them. I’m trying to butt them up right against each other by using COMMAND SHIFT M – with 0 distance but it is adding a teeny gap. After making a whole sign the teeny gaps are throwing off the measurements. I can only get them to butt up right against each other if I zoom in really close and manually drag it. Both of these problems just started happening and were not a problem before. What could I have done?!

I unchecked “Preview Bounds” in the Preferences and it has fixed all my problems!
