GTX285 recognized but disabled by Resolve

hi

for some time now i have problems with my GTX285 being not properly recognized by Resolve.

the card shows up in the system settings and Blackmagic tells me that from the log file
Resolve sees the card but then shuts it down for some reason. i then get an error msg that says which cards are supported and i should use as gpu for DaVinci to work.

has anyone had this problem and solved the issue somehow?

i tried everything from reverting to old cuda drivers and then updating to the latest.
running both 10.6.6 and 10.6.7

also did a fresh OSX install (but then reinstalled programs and settings from a timemachine backup)….still no luck….should i try a complete reinstall maybe?
exchanging the card didn´t work either (we have two actually in two different machines)

any help is highly appreciated.
it´s such a pain to only work on the GT120 alone 😉

Try to change your gpus location in lanes maybe ?

you mean switch the cards in the slots on the mainboard?

haven´t tried it yet…could do.

The old config guide states Slots 1 and 2 for the 120-UI / 285-process GPU. Beyond that, driver creep has been noted among the various OS updates and card versions… so possibly more likely to be the issue. I guess the old “re-seat”-the-cards diagnostic might be worth a try.
After all 90% of all electronic faults are connector-related, and the other 90% is power supply.

will definitely try that! thx so far.
are the slots numbered? not in front of a macpro right now.

hope this helps…although the card is recognized by the computer
but then DaVinci refuses to use it and shuts it down….so it´s not really an electronic fault.

The GTX285 is installed in slot 1, which is the double-wide slot and the GT120 installed in slot 2. Decklink usually goes into slot 3 and your storage controller card or REDRocket in slot 4.

Try go into the preferences in the Resolve application and make some changes so that you can click on Apply button, quit and re-launch Resolve again and see if it can see the GTX285 card.

When I first installed my Quadro 4000, I needed to add these lines to the debug tab:

LsManager.3.NumGPUs = 1
LsManager.3.GPUMapping = 0
LsManager.3.GPUMappingEnable = 1

Before you login, go into the Davinci preferences (command + , ) and paste the code into the debug tab.
