GT120 or ATI5770 on 2008 Mac Pro
Hi there
I am sure this has been covered but I can’t find it.
I am installing DaVinci 7.1 with a Quadro FX 4000 in a 2008 Mac Pro V3.1. In terms of DaVinci performance would I be better off with a GT120 or ATI 5770 for the GUI card.Thanks

ATI 5770 will be WAY faster in other apps, in DaVinci someone else would have to say if it even matters as it only drives the GUI there.
I’ve asked in other threads if adding a second Quadro 4000 helps in DaVinci but haven’t gotten a straight answer (i.e having a dedicated Quadro 4000 for rendering as well as one for the GUI and rendering, if possible). That said the 2008 MacPro’s have other limitations in their i/o so it might not do anything there.

The ATI as compared to the GT120 definitely makes the Resolve GUI a bit faster.
The second Q4000 used for the GUI won’t speed up the rendering or number of nodes, but will make the Resolve GUI a bit faster.

Just trying to figure out – what exactly is faster about the GUI? Things like switching between tabs, scopes, updating thumbnails?
Just want to get a sense of whether this speed is something I actually care about or not

Dragging separators, switching rooms, updating sliders during playback, having other windows in front of it and so on.
