grouping the clips

You could try nesting the Video & or Audio Clips.

select adjacent clips then press ‘Option C’ and name your new group (Sequence)

The clips will be nested in a group which can be moved around together. in order to edit them you will have to double click on the nest to open the group of clips.

Nest them and move the nest? AFAIK you can’t group in FCP like you can in some other programs (like Pro Tools).

you cant “link” video clips the way you can audio clips, if that’s what you’re hoping.

the only ways in FCP are to:

a. make a multiclip of the clips (as in multi-cam style editing)

b. nest the clips (they behave, and appear as one clip

c. do it manually:
lasso all the clips and work on them together, to move them,
use the “multi_ iteration of your tools SHift-B will blade al, Shift+T will select all tracks forward.
use the “Group” tool to select multiple edit points for trimming.

Thanks victor, john and nick.. Pity isnt it? such an efficient application neglect this type of features which the editors some times hungry for it as im now. Im bit not comfortable nesting practice. Reason is many changes i expect from the client as the live edit they did filled with mistakes. My option as follows. I did select all on the time line, choose all track forward tool, press command to deselect from the forward where i click so the clips backward selected and im able to move on. Thanks anyways for your help.
