grouping does not hold
Suddenly I am finding that grouping a bunch of clips does not hold. I select the clips, press g, and at first they move as a group. But once I do something else and come back to the group and move one, the others are no longer linked. Is there a setting I’ve inadvertently changed that would account for this?

Did you accidently hit the IGNORE EVENT GROUPING button in the toolbar?
