Using Vegas Movie Studio 11 Platinum..

I have a project with approx 120 still images across 4 tracks. All the events at 10 seconds long, and I need to shorten most of them to 9 seconds.

I tried grouping, but it does not seem to work. I grouped about 20 events/images to try grouping, and whilst the group appears to have been created (they all show up with a blue band around them) when I try and change the length of either the first or the last one, it only changes the length of the selected one – not all images in the group. I have checked that ‘ignore grouping’ in the toolbar is not checked, and in the preferences ‘cut, copy & delete group events’ is checked, so from what I can see the settings are correct…

Is it possible to change the length of multiple events at the same time? Or do I have to go through each one and change them? – maybe this is a limitation of VMS as opposed to pro?

    Many thanks,

    Stewart Bourke

This trick works in Pro and I think it’ll work in VMS as well.
After you group all the images, place the cursor at the end of the very last image and hold down the Ctrl key.
You’ll see the symbol change from a rectangle to a rectangle with a ~ under it.
While holding down the Ctrl key, drag it backwards to the desired new time/length.
I find that it helps to place a marker at the new desired time location.

    Mike,

Worked perfectly – thank you so much. I thought I had tried every combination of shift, control etc…

Stewart, I’m very glad to hear that it worked for you.
Now I know for certain that this feature works in VMS.
