Group clips in Xpress Pro HD 5.5
August 17 post expressed concern that Express Pro HD 5.5 upgrade would gang only four group clip files instead of the much higher number available in earlier releases. I couldn’t determine if his post was addressing only the four-way multi cam display, which is in earlier releases, or a real loss from earlier versions.
Is anyone using 5.5 with group clips or more than four in a group?

I believe it’s 4 total in a group clip now, regardless of multicam editing. Before you could group many more, but now it’s been limited due to a coding oversight (according to some knowledgeable folks in the Avid forums). It’s supposed to be on the list to fix. There has been a workaround discovered–I haven’t tried it (don’t have to–don’t have 5.5 yet), but it’s worth a try.

See the 2nd to last post for the workaround. Seems like a bit of hassle, but at least it’s something to get you going.
If you use Group Clips in large numbers as an integral part of your workflow, don’t upgrade until this is fixed, unless you need something provided in the upgrade that’s even more important.
