  • Grid with squares organic motion in Z space

    Hi all… can anyone help me with an expression? Should be fairly easy I’d think…

    I have a grid of 9 squares. I need an expression tied to a slider to make it easy for those 9 squares to float back and forth slowly in Z space randomly to provide an organic fluid motion, but then be able to originate back to their precise starting grid position via the slider.

    Does this make sense? Can anyone help me here?

    Thank you!

    Here you go. Adjust frequency as you want, and the amplitude is your slider.

    Just keyframe the slider back to 0 and you’re done.

    freq=1;
    amplitude=effect("Slider Control")("Slider");
    a=wiggle(freq,amplitude);
    [value[0],value[1],a[2]]

    Cheers,
    Ben

    What you need is described in this tutorial:

    https://library.creativecow.net/articles/ebberts_dan/noise.php

    All you need to change is that instead of having amp=100;
    you should create an expression control slider and pickwhip to that instead of 100;
    Now you can keyframe the slider and you’re done.
