  • grey screen when using ffmpegx to convert

    Hi,

I tried to convert MTS files in ffmpegX NTSC 29.97fps to .MOV PAL 25fps.
But I just get a grey screen, flickering with a little green.
    What do I do wrong?

    Thanx.

[Sascha Engel] “But I just get a grey screen, flickering with a little green.”

    What is doing the “getting?”
Not all players can handle all codecs.
    I’d suggest testing in VLC.

No, in every player I have on my system..including the VLC I get a flickering grey screen.
I do get a correct encoding if I do it with Toast, but it’s not de-interlacing.
I have all codecs installed for the ffmpegX, but it’s not giving me the right output for the MTS files.
Any idea what it can be? I did read that ffmpegx should be capable of handling MTS files.

I don’t see anything that points specifically to .mts output. Keep in mind HDV has very specific parameters. HDV can me an MPEG-2 Transport Stream but most MPEG-2 Transport Streams are not HDV.

It seems iFFmpeg has replaced ffmpegx but I’m not sure if it encodes to HDV either.

HDV is usually 25mbps, 4:2:0 color space and PAL or NTSC Long GOP depending on format.
