Just a quick hello – I just joined today. I’m a Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 user and I’m looking forward to cross pollinating ideas, problems, and solutions here.

    Cheers!

    Hey there,

I’m building a new PC to do some editing myself and I’m considering Vegas Pro 10. So I’m hear to read over some of the topics and see what I can find out before I make my decision. I haven’t edited anything in years but I’ve used Final Cut Pro, Premiere and other products over the years. So I’m always open to new apps. I hope to stick around here for a while.

    Welcome!

If you’re going with Vegas Pro 10, then I’d recommend building a 64-bit ‘puter, at least 4 Gigs of RAM, definitely quad-core (at least), and getting an nVidia based graphics card that can do the latest version of CUDA to help offset your rendering and speed things up.

    Enjoy!

I think I have an “overkill” build.

    Case: LIAN LI Lancool PC-K7B
    Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58
    CPU: Intel i7 quad core
    RAM: 12gb
Videocard: PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 512 MB GDDR3

    HDDs:
    Capture
    – 4x 500gb or 640gb 7200rpm laptop drives in a RAID 0 within an Icy Dock internal enclosure
    – 1tb for audio storage
    – 1tb for sfx files, etc
    – 2x 2tb drives in a RAID 5 to rendering out. Possibly external

I had the case here already and the video card and Icy Dock enclosure have already arrived. The mobo will get here Wednesday. I’ll probably pick up the cpu, RAM and hard drives in a few weeks. I still have to pick out a nice quiet power supply. This is the plan for now.

Heheh – naaaa, there’s no such thing as overkill when it comes to NLE’s. The faster the better! Looks like a bang’n system.

Thanks. Now I just have to finish getting all of the parts and making it work.
