    Hello,
I shot some well lit, easily keyable greenscreened DVCProHD footage. My issue is with the floor (which was level and hard when it was shot). I would think that building a solid, and eyeballing it in as a floor would be pretty simple, but aparently I’m not smart enough. Am I wrong to assume that once the floor is in place, the actor should be able to move about the new floor without stepping through it (or staying above it)? I have created a 3d solid for the floor, played around with cameras and rotating the x-axis of the floor, built nice shadows; but still, I can’t create a solid on which the actors can walk. If there’s something obvious I’m missing, I’d appreciate it…

    many thanks.
    ken.

The actor’s footage layer should be a 2D layer, not a 3D layer. So as long as the actor’s footage layer is above the floor layer in the timeline stack, he will not step through it.

Now if you have perspective issues, with no markers on the greenscreen floor, you have to eyeball the placement and rotation of the 3D floor.

    Does that make sense?

That makes total sense Steve, thanks. It was a silly habit not to rethink the fact that actor should be a 2D layer. Thanks a lot Steve.
