  • GreenScreen and hair flicker after using Keylight 1.2

Posted by Ryan Johnson on July 1, 2019 at 8:49 pm

Having used a DSLR (5d-mark iii) and greenscreen, Keylight 1.2 is just not cutting it. I now know this DSLR is not ideal for green screen. I have flickering hair in my videos (have included one below). Is there any trick to remove flicker around the edges and on areas of the hair with green spill? Even if its overly in-depth, I need a way to do this. Even if using another program or plugin is advised. Thanks ahead of time.

The flicker is caused entirely by the noise in your source channels (typically the red when your problem is hair). The only solution is to denoise your footage with something like Neat Video.

Problem noise is pretty much inevitable when shooting with a DSLR.

Awesome. You saved my life. thanks! I used the grain in after effects to manually sample the noisy hair and voila. Problem solved.

Can you elaborate a little? I’m having the same problem and I’m not entirely sure what do you mean by “manually sampling the noisy hair”

    Thanks.
