I’m trying to export a wedding film I shot. I did a rough cut and exported it…everything was fine. I went back to do a more thorough color correction, and this time, upon export, some areas have these random green blobs popping up. It’s always in the same spots on the shots, and seems to be in the shadows.

    Here’s some screenshot examples:

(I lightened the footage but still had the same problem)

Keep trying to upload a video…but both vimeo and creative cow players couldn’t play it back…dunno what this means.

I initially thought these might be popping up at places where the shadows dipped below the 0 IRE line…but when I went back and adjusted the color corrections to take care of that, there was still blobbing. (even when I changed the “output slider” to 37.2 in the shadows section…) For color I just used the 3-way-color corrector in Premiere.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running CS6 on a late 2011 iMac, 3.4Ghz i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 1GB video RAM

Hi Brian – I spent hours trying to figure out this annoying glitch, I had assumed it was something to do with the codec clipping the video levels, so I eased-off my colour correction and used the broadcast-safe filters to keep it all within safe parameters – and checked on the scopes. Sometimes it would sort it, other times it wouldn’t and the green blocks would just turn to smaller white ones. In the end I found that turning off ‘Use Maximum Render Quality’ at the bottom right of the Export Settings box removed the problem – as well as drastically cutting the time that it takes to export a file.

    Hope it works for you!

Thanks for your response, Tom. That’s the same thing a friend ended up recommending to me and it ended up working. Phew! Any idea why unchecking that box could make the render go that much smoother? I just don’t understand why increasing render quality would make those little boxes appear.

We have also had this problem. We have a PPCC AVCHD 59.94p sequence containing mostly AVCHD59.94p(from SonyFS700). There are some ProRes File mixed in.

When exporting to our broadcasters format (MXF: XDCAMHD 50 NTSC 4:2:2 29.97p) these green pixels show up in some dark areas. It happens on both AVCHD59.94p(from SonyFS700) and ProRes clips, with and without the three way color corrector filter applied.

    Rendering from PPCC on 21.5-inch, iMac-Mid 2011:
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
Media is on an 8TB Thunderbolt G-Raid

Its truly maddening! We are trying your suggested solution now. Hopefully that is the trick. I Pray!
