We have a bunch of short projects that all were shot on a green screen (they were lit well).

Normally, when I do any chroma key work, I do it in After Effects with Keylight, since it yields a better key.

But for these projects, time is of the essence, and I’d like to crank them all out while staying in Premiere, but Premiere’s keying abilities are substandard when compared to AE.

Is there any third-party chroma keyer for Premiere Pro that would make keys look as good as those done in AE with Keylight? Does Keylight offer a Premiere Pro plugin?

    Other suggestions?

    Thanks.

Not sure how much you want to spend. I made a post a couple of weeks ago about Primatte 4, which is now supported in Premiere CS3, “Officially”, and AE. Premiere isn’t designed for compositing, so it’s not as flexible as in AE, but it has all the features, including a one click key (minus spill removal).

They also have a light version (can’t recall the name), but I don’t think it’s yet supported in Premiere. It’s not cheap, but that’s the only one I can think of that is Premiere compatible, other than Ultimatte (which costs much more).

    Cheers,

I suggest that you either stay with Keylight or move to Ultra to speed things up. Premiere Pro just isn’t the best place to key your footage.
