Hey AE power users I need a help in converting this Nuke workflow to an equivalent workflow in AE.

This workflow eliminates orange markers on a green-screen.

The basic premiss is that you change the orange into a color close enough to the GS that is keys out.
I have attached the Nuke workflow in pdf form which steps you through the process. I don’t know Nuke so some of these nodes are a little confusing to me.

I got the first step which is pretty easy:
    1- Duplicate your GS footage.
2- Apply ‘Shift Channel’ effect to GS footage, and set red channel to blue.

After that I can’t figure out how to get the ‘Red’ channel back into the footage without bringing back the markers.

    Thanks,
    Matt

probably use that precomp you made as alpha matte maybe. or put keyed stuff as transfer layer color. hard to say without playing with it.

that being said, I personally don’t see how this whole technique would work as anything red in the shot would be keyed out, right?
you would only have green channel for luma? how could you key well off only one luma channel?
wouldn’t it be faster to have a second key for trackers? than masking, recoloring etc?
