July 7, 2009 at 12:18 pmhere’s a link to the keying section in the manual, there is also a link from there to a tutorial on keying using the keylight effect:
https://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WS3878526689cb91655866c1103906c6dea-7bfda.html
but a basic step-by-step would be something like this:
- add footage to be keyed and background file to a comp (bg file under footage).
- apply keylight (i prefer keylight) to the footage to be keyed.
- click the eyedropper tool for the color to key in the effect and click an area of the color to key on the footage. the color should then keyout and show the bg file behind the footage and spill supress the selected color from the subject.
- further adjust the settings to refine the key. clip black, clip white and shrink will be the basic tools to clean up the key.
