YES that is done all the time.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

… and assuming the footage was shot with a static camera (no pans, tilts, zooms, dollies, etc.) otherwise it will look very noticeably fake.

The footage is shot with a static camera…bow do i go about doing it? It is the same as it i were using a picture?

I should have asked HOW in my earlier post i guess 🙂

Super easy. Just make a new track like you would when putting an image behind the actor, but instead of dropping an image on the timeline, drop the movie clip.

A trick to make the background seem more real is to defocus the image to give an impression of depth of field.

Defocus can be done optically in camera or later with a gaussian blur applied to the clip
