Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Green Frames? That G5 render is not as good as your Intel does in ProRes.

[gary adcock] “What did you own tests show? Both versions of ProRes are 10bit, so there is infinitesimal amounts of loss when switching to one or the other. “

Yeah, that’s pretty much what my tests showed. I usually being everything in @ regular ProRes for the cut and review process. I then redo a ProResHQ at the end just to get the least amount of compression on graphics and cc renders. Probably not necessary, but it seems to work just fine. I don’t have green frame problems, though. 🙂

    David…

in my setup it looks like this

So maybe on the G5 is does not even have the power to output as PR and the CPU crushes it down to
    what it can handle….

    Wait, I’m still confused…I think.

Let me see if I have this right.

Use ProRes422(HQ) if I’m capturing with hardware, such as a Kona3 card?

If I’m converting footage that is already captured and in my computer, then I only need to convert to ProRes422?

What if you are capturing from a P2 card? Or what if I offloaded the data from the P2 card to a hard drive while working in the field?

The optimum term is Use standard ProRes on Any and all software conversions to simplify the decode and playback issues.
