    Helo

    Could someone please help me

My background is in editing with FCP, but I need to make a simple (I hope simple) animation. I have used Motion more often than After Effects and would like to do it in Motion.

The project is a PSA about recycling.

The effect I need to make is a line of green arrows following a motion path around a newspaper and in a separate scene around a plastic water bottle.

This JPEG should help get the idea across, let me know if I need to give more description of ht effect.

I have tried the “Draw a line on a map” tutorial but I was not successful.

I was able to make the effect with a motion path and snap to alignment behavior, then duplicate it and off set it in the time line. It was OK but I was hoping for an easer and better way.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Hey,

Are you trying to accomplish something like this? https://homepage.mac.com/specialcase/movies/arrows.mov

    Hey,

I did it using the same method in the replicator line-drawing tutorial. The basic steps:

    1. Drew a shape that will represent the path the replicator will follow (a rounded rectangle).
    2. Drew a line (with an arrow end-cap).
    3. Made a replicator from the line in step 2.
    4. Set the replicator’s Shape to ‘Geometry’ and dragged the shape from step 1 into the image-well that appears in the Inspector.
    5. Enabled the ‘Align Angle’ option in the replicator Cell Controls.
    6. Adjusted the number of replicator points to set the number of arrows.
    7. Applied a Rate parameter behavior to the replicator Offset value to slide the arrows along the path over time.

For this sort of animation, I recommend avoiding replicator paths with really sharp corners, as the cells (the arrows) will really jump as they make such an abrupt turn.

    Thanks a million

I did it in a few minutes.

I’ll spend some time getting it perfect, but it is just what I needed.

    Thanks again

    Aloha

Maybe a stupid question, but I couldn’t find the anwser on the net, in the manual, or on this forum. How do you draw a rounded rectangle in Motion?

I do it in Photoshop and Illustrator all the time. I would’ve thought there’d be a parameter under shape for the rectangle.
