  • Grayscale image of distance from camera

I’m wondering if there is an easy way to create a rendered image of a 3D model that comes out in grayscale according to its depth (or distance from the camera). Think of it as the reverse of a bump map. If I had a 3D model and I wanted to create a grayscale image to be used as a bump map (not that it makes much sense, but it’s what I need), how would I go about doing that in C4D?

Depth is a standard pass in the Multipass rendering. It’s dependenat from the cameras near and far distances, so you need to enable that first for the depth to show up.

OK, I found the depth option in the multi-pass rendering. But how do I enable the camera’s distance?

    Thanks for the help.

    Mylenium,

Never mind, I found it. It is one of the characteristics of the camera (I forgot to put a camera in). Then I had to play around with the depth distance.

    Thanks again for the help.
