September 11, 2012 at 5:26 pm[Gilles Gagnon] “The file is a Still: 1280x720x32, PNG.”
What exactly does that mean? The logo is 1280×720 with mostly nothing but the tiny logo in the lower right corner? or the logo is filling the 1280×720 and you are scaling it down to the corner?

September 11, 2012 at 5:28 pmThe logo was created in a photoshop file which is 1280×720 to match my expected 720 mp4 render.
I hope this makes sense.Gilles

September 11, 2012 at 5:30 pmThe logo was created in a photoshop file which is 1920×1080 to match the mp4 intended render. it’s to scale on a 1920×1080 canvas. So I would’nt have to crop in the project.

You might want to use a logo that is larger and then use Track Motion (or Pan/Crop) to position it in the project. This way Vegas has more resolution to work with. Don’t make it too large, maybe twice the final size.

September 13, 2012 at 2:32 pmDo any of you know why my lower textual lower-thirds drop position (lower) when I render using the DVD template?
I’d hate to have to tweak them all (blindly as what I see on the screen is not what I get) just to have correct alignment in in DVD render.I don’t really want to have to keep 2 separate projects to workaround this problem. Sheesh! having so many problems with Vegas lately. 🙁

Usually the reason for things “shifting” when you render is because your project aspect ratio is different from your render aspect ratio. So… what are your project settings, media settings for the lower third, and render settings?

September 13, 2012 at 6:21 pmHi John,
Project: HDV 720-30p (1280×720, 29.970 fps) – square pxl
render is DVD template: 720×480 16:9 display
media is 1280×720 (seen in the pan/crop window) I’m not cropping. Is this correct?

September 19, 2012 at 12:50 pmBy the way, I created media which was twice as large (png) and this made no difference. The DVD version, mpg, still does not produce a clean graphic.

September 19, 2012 at 1:09 pmGilles, make the original graphic as big as you possibly can.
for example, a 1920 x 1080 original will always look better than a 640 x 480 when shrunk down using Pan/Crop. -

September 19, 2012 at 1:41 pmMike, the problem is that the pan/crop will only shrink so much than I have to also use the track motion to shrink some more. A bit of a pain to have to use 2 tools to shrink it.
This is why I don’t make it so large to begin with.
